Decolonizing Wellness: The Podcast

I can officially add podcast host to my list of jobs! Yep, that's right, I've started a podcast. It's called Decolonizing Wellness: The Podcast and is a place for people who want to engage in wellness practices with integrity.

I am so excited that it is officially out there, in the world, for you to enjoy. This podcast has been a burning desire of mine for well over a year and there has always been a reason not to do it. From self-doubt to procrastination to my perceived lack of time to waiting for the 'perfect' time, the list goes on. I realised there would always be a reason not to do it so at the start of this year I decided enough was enough and I was just going to start.

I made the conscious decision to go with the flow during the process. I didn't want to put pressure on myself or on the outcome. I allowed it to unfold naturally - from finding and reaching our to guests to the more technical side of putting the podcast together to the marketing materials. I asked myself: 'What's one thing I can do to get closer to my goal?' And I kept asking myself this till I had a podcast! Of course there were maaaany steps and if you're interested in hearing about these do let me know and I would be happy to elaborate.

I have been lucky enough to speak to a diverse range of incredible guests and pick their brains about their indigenous wellness practices. We have been delving into their history & roots, understanding how we can appreciate rather than appropriate and how, once we know better, we can do better. Speaking to guests from the cultures that the wellness practices originate from has been empowering and affirming.

Knowing that the why behind the podcast is bigger than me has made the process much easier. I have been able to take it one step at a time and accept that the outcome is out of my hands. I have been able to put my learning from the Bhagavad Gita into practice: to do my duty - my dharma - and let go of the results.

Of course I want the podcast to do well and reach hundreds and thousands of people. I believe that this podcast is deeply needed in the wellness space - a space that is rooted in cultural appropriation, in white-washing, in westernisation and has completely disregarded the origins and roots of the wellness practices they profit from. Yet the fruits of my labour are out of my hands. What is meant to be will be.

I would love for you to listen to the podcast. Please help me to spread the podcast far and wide by sharing it with your network via social media. You can listen wherever you get your podcasts and don't forget to follow, rate & review!

With love & gratitude,

Jyoti x
